Babs’ Cafe In The Woods
Babs’ Cafe In The Woods, as its name suggests, is our cafe which is set amidst pine trees and serves as an in house dining for our guests.
Babs started her cooking journey with a pressure cooker and a wood-fired stove, when she and Naveen moved to Suriya Gaon in 1994. Her love for cooking and the ability to churn out lavish meals using the bare minimum ingredients available back then, made her a magician of sorts. Over the years, her culinary skills became a part of her identity and all those who visited Suriya Gaon would look forward to dining at her home. Our cafe is a tribute to Babs journey and an expression of our love for food.
They say that location is key in the food business, but we are so far off from any commercial activity that it’s safe to say, this isn’t business at all. Our happy place, this is where we cook with love, using veggies from our organic farm, homegrown herbs and local produce, to put together delicious, wholesome and sometimes experimental meals. We take pride in using seasonal and locally grown ingredients to ensure freshness and quality are never compromised with. From our pickles to our ice creams and even our cheese, it is all made in house and we strictly do not use any one time use plastic.
Our cafe is also open for guests who are not staying with us, but by reservation only. We offer a 7-9 course seasonal menu that is curated keeping in mind the fresh produce that is available to us. We require a minimum notice of 24 hours, since we believe that good food is something that should take time and love to prepare.
